UN INTERNATIONAL DECADE FOR PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT (2015-2024).

In December 2014, the UN General Assembly, through Resolution 68/237, established the International Decade for People of African Descent (2015-2024). This transformative initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), is committed to bolstering actions and initiatives that secure the comprehensive realization of economic, social, cultural, civil, and political rights for individuals of African descent. Furthermore, it strives to ensure their unabridged and equitable integration into society.

Themed "Recognition, Justice, and Development," the decade serves as a strategic framework prompting nations to eliminate enduring social injustices rooted in history. It also champions the relentless battle against racism, prejudice, and racial discrimination that continue to afflict people of African descent. By addressing these challenges, the International Decade seeks to foster a more just, inclusive, and equitable global community.
